ACPO Counter Terrorism Conference

The First ACPO Counter Terrorism Conference took place in February 2008.

The conference focus was around the theme ‘Understanding The Picture’

The nature of the terrorist threat is dynamic. Law enforcement and the security agencies together with other partner agencies tasked with responding to terrorist related incidents need to be forever reflecting on what works and planning new strategies. Whether protection of iconic sites and crowded places or preparing for further attacks, the incidents in London and Glasgow during summer 2007 left no area of the United Kingdom unaffected.

This conference detailed the operational and organisational learning from recent investigations. There was an update on the capability and capacity build across the UK. The new PREVENT agenda was showcased to detail how the Government strategy will work at a local level. The academic input detailed the history and psychology of terrorism. Networking opportunities were available at the drinks reception and Gala Dinner.

Owing to the nature of the Conference, a limited number of the sessions were only open to those vetted to the level of SC (Security Check) clearance.

The content of all the sessions will not be published on this website.
